Hanging baskets offer many benefits to those considering options to brighten up the deck or patio. They’re usually of a manageable size, very visible, and versatile. Sitting planters of a comparable size might get lost in the shuffle, and larger sitting planters can be difficult to move or tend. Hanging planters are also great for those who rent or have very limited space, for these same reasons.

To take advantage of the decorating potential of hanging baskets, select multiple varieties for each basket. Decide on a color theme for blooming plants, and choose colors that coordinate with the surroundings the basket will be hanging in.
